State GOP to Host Job Fair

The Kansas state Repubican Party is making plans to host a job fair the week following the November 7th election at the Capital Plaza hotel in Topeka.

By all accounts (and please keep the flaming out of the comments) both employees of the Barnett and Kline campaigns will be looking for work on November 8th. We also know at least one Barnett employee has already started interviewing for a new job. It only makes sense that the state party be proactive in at least one area and help these folks find gainful employment after the election.

Anyone interested in either participating as a prospective employer or a soon to be out of work staffer can contact Ron Freeman at 785-234-3456 or send him an email at rfreeman@ksgop.org.

We'll post time and room information once it becomes available.

The only Republican looking for a job on November 8 will be Ron Freeman. Despite his current dismal performance, Barnett and Kline will win.

Not sure about Kline and Barnett winning, but let's all hope Freeman goes back to Missouri. He and Shallenburger both have been train wrecks.

Some edits to the first post:

Jim Barnett has a job, and also a political position, so he's secure come November 8.

Phill Kline's term runs through the 2nd Monday in January, 2007. So he's safe on November 8, too.

Also, the last sentence should read: "...will win less than 45% of the vote." Sorry it was shortened in my original post.

So: Are the bloggers here just basically admitting that:
1. They are Democrats
2. They want Sebelius to win
3. They made stuff up about Canfield because they didn't want to see Sebelius run against Canfield?
4. They made stuff about other Republicans, as well?

I guess so.

My only question: is Sebelius paying you?

This shows that Sebelius may be at least somewhat concerned about losing, if she has interns just making up stuff.

Kathleen isn't concerned about losing.

Have you ever met Barnett, Wagle or Kline?

These people are just plain weird. They're not the kind of people that you'd want to be around, let alone vote for.

Kathleen cannot possibly be scared with the GOP field. I suspect she's laughing.

On a more serious note, even the press is now asking where Barnett is. He has made no effort to reach out to moderate Republicans in Johnson County (don't know about conservatives); no contact at all. Phill Kline and Chuck Ahner, on the other hand, are very active on the phone, etc. with a broad range of Republicans. Freeman is actually the only party official actually trying to bring the party together for November with meetings, etc. He orchestrated the successful unity night party on election night by taking it out of Doug Patterson's hands. Shallenberger has been invisible and in Johnson County, the party which kept the idiotic RINO rant on its website for months has now lost its domain name and doesn't even have a website let alone an office.

I'm sick the GOP. I'll always be a conservative, but I'm not interested in supporting these fools.

i dont give a crap of the blogger are. all i know is they are entertaining and in a funny way, insightful.

if this job fair is really being planned, you all better get somebody besides ron freeman to run it. he's the biggest joke the party has. not even from kansas.

the comment above mentions how freeman . where was the unity breakfast? how about having all the kansas republican candidates on the same stage? how is it that he is healing to party and bringing it together?

freeman is a big joke.

To the last person: Most agree Freeman is a joke, but the bigger joke is Shallenburger.

He 'threatened' to quit more than once, has done NOTHING to build the party since he was elected party chair, doesn't know how to communiate with people, is more interested in being a banker and gambling lobbist than a party official. if you have heard him speak, you would know what I mean.

Freeman won't be around once a new party chair is elected. He is an absolute joke....for that matter the entire staff is pathetic. *If* Republicans face big losses this November it will make it tough for the new chairman to pick a staffer from one of those campaigns. Watch for Corrie Kangas, Tamara Baker and JD Johannes to be on short lists for ED....they are seasoned political operatives and closely tied to conservatives but they aren't working on a campaign this cycle.....which could prove beneficial

JD Johannes is probably the smartest political operative on the conservative side, but he won't be party ED. First, being ED is a terrible job that doesn't pay much. JD could do better elsewhere. Second, JD is tied too closely to Kline. After Kline gets beat, the party will look elsewhere for leadership.

um...Corrie Kangas is with the Barnett campaign...or didn't anyone notice?

Very entertaining ruminations about the Party, Shallenburger, the ED, etc. And Praeger by 4!?! Come on, more like 44.

This discussion does bring up a interesting point, who will be the next Party Chair?

Well sorry you JOCOcentric bloggers, the likely Chair is Susan Estes from Wichita. Will she do a better job than Shallenburger? Probably not. Why? Because the Party is a shell of its former self, there hasn't been much there there for awhile now. Even that fink Parkinson could only raise enough money to keep the doors open. There are plenty of R's to blame, both cons and mods. Kansas Republican Party politics tends to be at high school/personal level, which is one reason the RNC wants little to do with us. Pretty pathetic really.

As for the future of the campaign staffs of our illustriuos candidates? It won't be pretty, and you will be blamed for losing. The Praeger, Jenkins, and Ryun folks will be OK because they will win. Well, I would suggest looking elswhere for employment for the losers. Mrs. Estes is likely to bring new blood, if she doesn't have to kowtow to the Koch's too much.

Brownback will need people for his White House bid, but that will only last till the Iowa Caucus, a mere 16 months from now so get those resumes in early!

Susan Estes will never be GOP Ch. The Shallenburger set has respect for her ... but the more conservative renegades have no interest in her.

Post Shallenburger, the GOP will move further to the right. The Johnson County conservatives will be in charge. Their leaders are Charlotte O'Hare, Kris Kobach. A guy like David Kensinger could take control of the GOP. Alan Cobb might be a good pick for Ch.

I VOTE WAGS FOR CHAIR!

Conservatives remain in charge in Johnson County but O'Hara, Kobach? Losers just like Patterson was. Bigger question is who cares? County party is largely irrelevant. They have no office, no website, no money. Legislators and candidates run their own deals and have no contact with party. The party has largely been replaced by KRA/KFL and KTRM plus offshoots. The State Party also has been absent and it's hard to see how they really become relevant again.

The next Party Chair will not be an elected official, or a failed candidate. We don't need another bitter leader. And Susan E. lost her chance when she failed to lead in getting the platform done or show up in Topeka like she said she would.

The next party chair must be a business leader who knows how to get things done and how to hire competant staff for the office. There are several choices for a good ED, but chance are they will all be on Governor Barnett's staff.

Estes won't be the next party chair for one simple reason. Susan Wagle. Wagle nixed her chance two years ago and she will do it again if Estes tries to run.
